Baking bread and brewing love with these parents-to-be
This maternity session was spent in the soft light of an afternoon in the kitchen. The mama-to-be moved with intention, carefully working through her grandmother’s bread recipe—one that had been passed down, held onto, and now brought back to life in a new chapter. There was something deeply grounding about it, like memory and anticipation existing in the same breath.
Flour dusted the air as Sydnie kneaded the dough, her hands steady and familiar with the motion. It’s evident it wasn’t her first time making this bread recipe. Her husband, Louis, was lovingly watching Sydnie and playfully dusting off the flour that had made its way onto her growing belly.
As we waited for the bread to bake, we moved over to their coffee station where Sydnie prepared some fresh morning brews.
The pair sipped on their coffees while chatting about this new and exciting chapter. You could feel the depth of what they’re building together.
After taking the freshly baked bread out of the oven and cutting them into slices, it was time to make some delicious, crisp toast to accompany those cups of coffees.
These slow, mindful afternoons are some of my favourite types of sessions, as they don’t always involve perfectly styled moments. It was more about honouring where they’ve come from and where they’re going. A family recipe being made again, in a home that’s about to hold new traditions, new memories, and a new kind of love. It was guided by purpose and intention. Sessions like this have a way of reminding you that the most meaningful stories often live in the everyday.
